First edition, first printing. Publisher's original blue cloth decorated in black and silver to the upper board and with titles in gilt to the spine. Floral endpapers. Publisher's catalogue at the rear in the first state, dated 'September 1886'. A very good copy, the binding firm with some rubbing and bumping to the corners and ends of the slightly rolled spine. The silver to the upper board a trifle dulled. The contents, with the bookplate of bibliophile Sydney John Robinson to the front pastedown, and a tiny previous owner's ink name to the upper edge of the blank reverse of the front endpaper, are otherwise clean throughout.
