First UK edition, first printing. Original maroon paper-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. A near fine copy, the binding firm, the spine ever so slightly rolled. The contents, with a small bookseller's paper label to the front pastedown and a section of the text block lightly toned, due to two different qualities of paper being used in production, are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly rubbed and creased dustwrapper that is without fading, loss or tears. Not price-clipped (24s on the front flap).

A science fiction novel about a man whose intense psychic abilities make his presence unbearable to other humans, so banishes himself to an abandoned labyrinthine alien city. It was originally serialised in 'Worlds of If' magazine in 1968 and first published in book form in the US by Avon Books in 1969.
