First edition, first printing. Original beige cloth with illustrations to the spine and upper board in black and red, in dustwrapper. Illustrated in black and white throughout by Stuart Tresilian. A very good or better copy, the binding firm with a slight lean to the spine, the board corners lightly bumped. The cloth is bright and fresh. The contents, with some light spotting to the text block edges, are otherwise clean and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the very good lightly rubbed and creased first state dustwrapper featuring a colour wraparound illustration that is ever so slightly faded to the spine and has some tiny nicks and short closed tears to the edges. A larger closed tear at the top of the rear spine fold (5.5cm) and a another (3cm) at the top of the rear flap fold have been secured with tape to the underside along with pieces at the head and tale of the spine. Not price clipped (7s 6d to the front flap). An attractive example.
