First edition, first printing. Original pale green striped paper-covered boards with titles in gilt on black to the spine and an illustration in black to the upper board, in dustwrapper. Top edge red, now faded. Illustrated throughout with black and white drawings by Edward Ardizzone. A very good or better copy, the binding firm with a very slight lean to the spine, the top corners just a touch bumped. Top edge faded. The contents are clean and bright throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the Ardizzone illustrated spine-faded dustwrapper that is lightly rubbed and nicked, with a couple of very tiny closed tears to the edges. Not price clipped (18s. net to the front flap).

Best know for his Arthurian series 'The Once and Future King', T. H. White here presents an autobiographical account of his childhood on the west coast of Ireland.
