First UK edition, first printing. Publisher's original green cloth with silver titles to the spine and upper board, in the Lawrence Edwards illustrated dustwrapper. A very good or better copy, the binding square and firm with a little bumping at the spine tips, the cloth with a little spotting, and a mild stain to the bottom-right corner of the upper board. The contents, with some spotting to the pastedowns, are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly rubbed and creased dustwrapper, which has a touch of spotting to the rear panel, and underside. Not price-clipped (25s net to the lower front flap).

A science fiction novel, originally serialised in 'Galaxy Magazine' between April and June 1968, before being published in book form in America by G. P. Putnam's Sons later the same year. Nominated for the 1969 Hugo Award for 'Best Novel'.
