First edition, first printing. Signed by the author. Publisher's original black cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in the Fanghorn illustrated dustwrapper. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm, with a little bumping to the spine tips and a touch of rubbing to the extremities, the cloth with a few light marks. The contents, with a large tear across the width of page 305 (a production fault), and light toning to the closed text block, are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly creased dustwrapper, which is a little faded to the spine and otherwise free from loss or tears. Not price-clipped (£14.99 net on the front flap).

Signed by David Gemmell in blue ink on the title page, scarce thus. Chronologically the fourth book set within in David Gemmell's 'Drenai Saga' and the prequel to 'Legend' (1984).
