Publisher's original yellow cloth with titles in dark purple to the spine and upper board, with colour illustration by David Ireland to the upper board. With a tipped-in colour frontispiece by David Ireland, and seven black and white illustrations throughout by Tom Nesbitt. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, with one small bump to the head of the spine, and otherwise bright and fresh. Light spotting to the top edge of the text block. The contents are clean throughout, and without previous owners' inscriptions or stamps.

Issued in an edition of 111 copies, from which this example is numbered 94, and signed by the author Jack Vance and illustrator David Ireland in black ink on the limitation page. The third book in Vance's 'Planet of Adventure' series, relating the adventures of Adam Reith, sole survivor of an Earth ship investigating a signal from the distant planet Tschai. Although the novels are thematically linked, each is a self-contained story.
