THE CASTLE OF IRON

First edition, first printing. Signed by the author, L. Sprague de Camp. Original orange cloth with brown titles to the spine and a brown illustration to the upper board, in the Hannes Bok illustrated dustwrapper. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the corners very slightly bumped and the extremities with some light wear. The contents, with some offsetting to the endpapers, are otherwise clean throughout and without previous owners' stamps or inscriptions. Complete with the rubbed, nicked and creased original dustwrapper that is faded at the spine. Not price-clipped ($2.50 on the front flap).

Signed by L. Sprague de Camp in black ink on the title page. The second volume in de Camp and Fletcher Pratt's collaboratively written, science fantasy 'Harold Shea' or 'Enchanter' series, in which Harold Shea and his companions travel to parallel realities where various different world myths exist. The novel was expanded and adapted from the authors' novella of the same name, the third 'Harold Shea' story, which was published in Unknown magazine in 1941.
