THE BFG

First edition, first printing. Publisher's original grey cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in the Quentin Blake illustrated dustwrapper. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth bright and fresh, with a little rubbing to the spine tips and extremities. The contents, toned and a little marked to the closed text block edge, are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly rubbed and creased dustwrapper, which remains without fading, loss or tears. Not price-clipped (£6.50 net to the front flap). An attractive example.

Dahl's much-loved children's novel about a dream-collecting Big Friendly Giant and Sophie, a kind-hearted imaginative little girl named for Dahl's first grandchild. The story has inspired numerous stage and screen adaptations, most notably the 2016 Walt Disney Pictures film directed by Steven Spielberg, starring Mark Rylance, Ruby Barnhill, Penelope Wilton, Jemaine Clement, Rebecca Hall, Rafe Spall, and Bill Hader. The BFG first appeared as a character in 'Danny, the Champion of the World' (1975), told as a story by Danny's father.
