SHIRLEY SANZ

First cheap edition (or remainder issue) of the first edition, first printing. The publisher's retained copy. Original red cloth with black titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. An excellent very near fine copy, the binding clean, square and firm, the contents clean throughout and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly creased and toned dustwrapper. An attractive example of the author's rare second novel.

This "first cheap edition" is made up of the first printing sheets bound in red cloth (rather than the black cloth of the first printing) which combined with it's commercial failure would suggest it is simply a remainder issue of the first edition rather than a new edition. Provenance: From the archive of the publisher Victor Gollancz.
