First edition, first printing. Publisher's original quarter red cloth over black paper-covered boards, with gilt titles to the spine, in the Abner Graboff designed dustwrapper. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm, with a touch of fading to the top edge of the paper-covered boards, and just a touch of rubbing to the spine tips and extremities. The contents, with mild spotting to the top edge of the closed text block, are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly rubbed and nicked dustwrapper that has a couple of small short closed tears to the panel edges and some marks to the underside.

The thirty-second, and penultimate, Nero Wolfe novel published in the author's lifetime. Published in September 1973. The UK first edition, published by Collins, The Crime Club, followed in 1974. (Hubin).
