ON THE BLACK HILL

Uncorrected proof copy of the first edition, first printing. Softcover. Original orange-red wraps lettered in black to the spine and front panel. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the spine tips bumped, the extremities lightly rubbed and creased, with a closed tear to the head of the spine. The contents, with a small mark to the closed fore-edge and a crease to the top corner of page 67, are otherwise clean throughout and without stamps or inscriptions.

The author's third book. Winner of the 1982 James Tate Memorial Prize and the Whitbread First Novel of the Year Award. The basis for the 1987 film of the same name directed by Andrew Grieve and starring Bob Peck and Gemma Jones.
