First edition, first printing. Publisher's original red cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in the Quentin Blake illustrated dustwrapper. Illustrated with black ink and wash drawings by Quentin Blake throughout. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth bright and fresh, with some rubbing to the spine tips and extremities. The contents, with just a little toning and light spotting to the closed text block and very light offsetting to the endpapers, are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly creased dustwrapper that has a tiny short closed tear to the head of the rear flap fold, and is otherwise without fading or loss. Not price-clipped (£8.50 net to the lower front flap).
