First edition, first printing. Signed by the author. Original quarter black cloth, black boards with gilt titles to the spine, in the Rick Sternbach illustrated dustwrapper. A fine copy, the binding square and firm, the extremities slightly rubbed, the contents clean throughout and without previous owner's stamps or inscriptions. Complete with the near fine original dustwrapper which is barely rubbed at the extremities. Not price-clipped ($10.95 on the front flap).

Inscribed by Jack Williamson in blue in on the title page "For Dick - / with best wishes / and thanks for a fine time / at Windycon 9 / Jack Williamson / 1982". The recipient is Dick Spelman, a bookseller of science fiction and fantasy books who has authored a number of books on the genre. Windycon is a Chicago based science fiction and fantasy convention that has been running since 1973; in 1982 Dick Spelman was Windycon's convention chair and Jack Williamson was a special guest.
