First edition with Aubrey Beardsley illustrations. Two volumes. Handsomely bound in full black morocco by Worrall of Birmingham, board corners and edges ruled in gilt, five raised bands and titles in gilt to the spine. Gilt ruled and intricately decorated inner dentelles. Quarto. Photogravure frontispieces, 18 further plates (5 of which are double page), numerous text illustrations, 350 chapter headings, borders and initials all after designs by Aubrey Beardsley. An excellent example, the bindings firm with only light rubbing at the extremities. The contents with mild toning and the occasional foxing spot to the margins throughout are otherwise clean and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps.
One of 1500 copies printed (of a total edition of 1800). A very attractive copy of Beardsley's first commission and arguably his greatest work.
