Written in 1960 and published posthumously, 'Humpty Dumpty in Oakland' is one of a series of non-SF novels Dick wrote between 1952 and 1960 (during the same period he was publishing science fiction stories in various Pulp magazines). "Set in San Francisco in the late 1950s, it is a tragicomedy of misunderstandings among used car dealers and real-estate salesmen" (from the jacket).
