FIENDISH SCHEMES

First edition, first printing. Signed by the author. Inscribed for fellow multi-award winning author Lavie Tidhar. Publisher's original dark green paper-covered boards with yellow titles to the spine, in the Jonathan Coulthart illustrated dustwrapper. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, bright and fresh, with just a little rubbing to the spine tips. The contents, with light toning and a tiny pen mark to the closed text block, are otherwise clean throughout and without previous owners' inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly rubbed and creased dustwrapper, that is a little marked to the flap edges, and otherwise remains without fading, loss or tears. Not price-clipped ($25.99 to the upper front flap).

Inscribed by the author in blue ink on the title page 'To Lavie - / Great admirer of / your / work - / Best, / K. W. Jeter / 10.24.2013'. The second novel in the Jeter's steampunk George Dower trilogy, following 'Infernal Devices' (1987) and preceding 'Grim Expectations' (2017). Jeter is best known for coining the term 'steampunk' to describe the modern subgenre of science fiction "whose sf events take place against an alternate history nineteenth-century background [...], usually an invention-saturated version of Victorian/Edwardian England, with a temporal real-world terminus normally being a point just before the outbreak of World War One" (SF Encyclopedia, 2025). Provenance: From the library of Lavie Tidhar, multi-award winning author of such works as 'Osama' (2011) and 'Central Station' (2016).
