A collection of essays on feminism and gender in relation to Shakespeare and early modern literature, published in honour of the scholar Phyllis Rackin and written by her former students and colleagues. Subjects covered include domesticity as women's empowerment, race and masculinity, early modern women's writing and the connection between the sonnet and a lady's closet. Phyllis Rackin is a former President of the Shakespeare Association of America and Professor Emerita of English at the University of Pennsylvania. She has published widely on Shakespeare and is particularly committed to and influential in the field of the feminist study of Shakespeare.
