A fine copy, presenting as unread, the binding square and firm, the contents clean and bright throughout. In the fine dustwrapper. Not price-clipped (£40.00 to the front flap). A very attractive copy.

Published for the eightieth anniversary of Faber and Faber, this beautiful, lavishly illustrated volume documents the remarkable history of Faber book cover design. At the centre of the story is Berthold Wolpe, who was responsible for a huge number of the jackets included here (and some of the most memorable jackets of the last century); but nearly every artist and designer of note has at some point worked with the company, including Shirley Tucker, Barnett Freedman, and Pentagram, who provided the distinctive Faber house style of the 1980s and 90s. The book is introduced by the novelist and former bookseller, Joseph Connolly, and includes a brief history of the publisher, an essay on Wolpe, and individual indexes arranged by author, title, and designer.
