DEATH ON THE NILE - Advance Proof Copy

Advance or proof copy of the first American edition, first printing. Publisher's pale blue? card covers printed in black with the title 'The Big Detective Story for 1938!'. A good copy, the binding reasonably firm although worn and creased to the edges, the thin paper spine covering perished exposing the not unattractive stitching beneath. The covers are spotted and someone has [helpfully] added the title and author in pencil beneath the printed announcement. The contents are complete and without loose pages with some spotting to the outer margins, otherwise generally bright and clean. Rare in this form.

A working copy in its rare advance state, of this Hercule Poirot mystery. First published in book form by Collins, The Crime Club in November 1937, the American edition followed a few months later in February 1938, this advance copy would logically have been issued somewhere in between.
