First edition, first printing. Publisher's original brown cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm with some bumping at the spine tips, the cloth bright and fresh, the gilt oxidised. The contents, with offsetting to the front and rear endpaper are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the rubbed and nicked dustwrapper that has several short closed tears (secured with three pieces of brown tape to the underside) and some vertical creasing to the front flap. Not price-clipped (7/6 net to the lower front flap). Scarce.

The second of four Inspector Timothy Dewer detective novels written under the Hilary Landon pseudonym. The author is better known as George Bellairs. (Hubin).
