First edition, first printing. Signed by the author. Additionally with two typed letters signed, loosely laid in. Publisher's original burgundy cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the contents, with a little light spotting at the text block edge, are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with the very good rubbed, nicked and creased dustwrapper which has some fading to the spine. Not price-clipped (£6.95 on the front free endpaper).

Inscribed by Robert Lusty in black ink on the half title "For Shirley / belatedly, from / an erring god-father. / Her mother is the / second 'Joan' in the / dedication! / Love from / Bob". Additionally signed in full on the title page. Loosely laid in are two typed letters signed "Bob" to Shirley arranging a visit. A memoir of Sir Robert Lusty's career in publishing (at Michael Joseph and Hutchinson) and as governor of the BBC.
