First edition, first printing. Publisher's original light blue cloth, with silver titles to the upper board and spine, in dustwrapper. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, 11 colour plates, and 18 small black and white illustrations by Watkins-Pitchford. The illustrated title page is printed in black and yellow. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth lightly faded to the board edges and a touch spotted to the spine. The contents, with some spotting and offsetting to the endpapers and a few light spots throughout, are otherwise clean and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete in the lightly rubbed, nicked, toned and creased dustwrapper, that has a short closed tear at the head of the spine and is otherwise without loss. Not price-clipped (18s net to the lower front flap). An attractive example.
