First edition. Publisher's original black cloth with gilt titles to the spine, red titles to the upper board with portrait onlay of Gerald du Maurier, publisher's monogram in blind to the rear board. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm, with bumping and rubbing to the extremities and a faint white mark to the top corner of the rear board. The contents, with toning to the endpapers, pastedowns and all edges of the textblock, are otherwise clean throughout and free from inscriptions or stamps.
This example is a later issue comprising the 1909 first edition sheets with at 32 page publisher's catalogue, dated 'Summer fiction 1913' inserted at the rear. A novelization of the classic play of the gentleman thief Arsene Lupin, first performed in the UK at the Duke of York's Theatre, London in 1909, with Gerald du Maurier in the title role.
