First edition, first printing. Trade issue. Publisher's original cinnamon cloth with gilt titles to the spine, lacking the dustwrapper. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, with bumping and rubbing to the extremities, the cloth a little faded to the spine and top edge of the upper board. The contents, with foxing to the endpapers, a small bookseller's paper label to the rear pastedown and dustiness to the top edge of the closed text block, are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions.

Published 24 October 1929 in an edition of 3040 copies and issued simultaneously with the British signed limited edition. The American signed limited edition, published by The Fountain Press, preceded all others by three days.
