First edition. Publisher's original red cloth with gilt titles and borders to the spine, in dustwrapper. With 23 black and white illustrations and 26 colour plates throughout. A very near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth bright and fresh, with a tiny bump to the bottom edge of the upper board. The contents are clean throughout, and without inscriptions or stamps. The closed text block has a very small light brown mark to the fore-edge. Complete with the near fine, lightly rubbed dustwrapper, with just a touch of bleed from the cloth to the underside, and a light stain to the tail of the lightly faded spine (not visible to the printed side).
