THE HEAT OF THE DAY

First edition, first printing. Original tan cloth with titles in red to the spine and upper board, in dustwrapper. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with a little rubbing to the spine tips and corners, the cloth bright and fresh. The contents, with foxing to the prelims and rear endpaper, are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly rubbed, nicked and creased dustwrapper that has a few very short closed tears at the edges and a lightly faded spine. Not price-clipped (9s 6d on the front flap).

A novel set in London during WWII about a woman who finds herself romantically entangled with a spy and a counterspy. The basis for the Harold Pinter written film of the same name directed by Christopher Morahan, starring Patricia Hodge, Michael York and Michael Gambon.
