First edition, first printing. Publisher's original blue cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in the Michael Gibbon illustrated dustwrapper. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth a little toned and rubbed at the edges with some bumping to the extremities. The contents, with an ownership inscription in black ink to the front free endpaper, a scuff to the front pastedown, and some spotting to the text block edge and occasionally throughout, are otherwise clean. Complete with the rubbed, nicked, toned and creased dustwrapper, which has a few short closed tears with associated creasing and some minor spotting and light marks to the panel and flap edges. Not price-clipped (7s 6d net to the lower front flap).
