METROLAND

First edition, first printing. Publisher's original grey boards with silver titles to the spine, in dustwrapper and wraparound band. A very near fine copy, the binding square and firm with very faint bumping to the spine tips and the top corner of the upper board, the cloth bright and fresh. The contents are clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the very lightly rubbed dustwrapper, that has been repriced by the publisher with a label over the printed price on the front flap. Retaining the Somerset Maugham Award Winner wraparound band which remains bright and unfaded.

The author's first book. A novel recounting the adolescence and young adulthood of a man named Christopher Lloyd as he grows up in 'Metro-Land' (the area of Greater London served by the Metropolitan Railway in the early 20th century), adopts a chaotic, bohemian lifestyle in Paris, and returns to a mundane, bourgeois existence in Metroland.
