Avery good or better copy, the binding square and firm with a little bumping at the spine tips, the cloth bright and fresh. The contents, with the signed bookplate of Peter B. Messent (author and Professor of Modern American Literature) to the front pastedown, are clean throughout. The author's first book, a cult classic. Sub-titled a 'fictional memoir', the novel is based on the author's real struggle as a New York Giants fan, complicated by alcohol abuse and mental illness. The book formed the basis for the 1972 Palme d'Or nominated film of the same name directed by Eric Till, starring Jerry Orbach and Patricia Collins.
