Reprint. Splendid contemporary Arts and Crafts Movement binding by Hatchards of Piccadilly. Half tan morocco over marbled boards, ruled in gilt, the spine with a single raised band, sinuous foliate decoration in gilt incorporating two green morocco onlays, and with decorative titles in gilt. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Engraved portrait vignette to the title page, with tissue guard. A near fine copy, the binding square and tight with a little rubbing to the corners. The contents with a contemporary ink inscription ("M. Thomas / from / Lord and Lady Napier of Magdala / June 11. 1906.") and some light spotting to the endpapers are otherwise clean and bright throughout.
