Early edition. 12mo. Handsome contemporary full black calf, the boards ruled in gilt, the spine with five raised bands, compartments ruled in gilt and with titles in gilt. Marbling to page edges. Marbled endpapers. Engraved portrait frontispiece and additional engraved title page. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with a little rubbing to the extremities and cracking to the hinge between the final page of the preface and p.1 of the text.
