MURDER WITHOUT MYSTERY

First edition, first printing. Publisher's original red cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. An excellent near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth bright and fresh. The contents, a little toned to the prelims and with a couple of isolated spots to the closed text block edge, are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly rubbed and nicked dustwrapper that has a few light marks and short closed tears, without loss. Correctly priced 7/6 net to the lower front flap. A very attractive example of a scarce title.

The author's first book and only work of detective fiction. An unusual inverted mystery, similar to that of R. Austin Freeman's 'The Singing Bone' (1912) or Isabel Ostrander's 'Ashes to Ashes' (1919), in that the perpetrator is known to the reader from the outset of the story. (Hubin).
