Mike Williams (b.1940) was educated at Quarry Bank High School for Boys (where his contemporaries included John Lennon). From 1957, he trained as a commercial artist and illustrator while working in the art studios of Henry Pybus and Littlewoods. Going freelance in 1966, he sold his first cartoon to Punch (where later he was briefly cartoon editor), and his work has since been published in Playboy, Private Eye, Spectator, Daily Sketch, Oldie and The Times.
