First edition, first printing. Deluxe edition. Publisher's original green cloth with colour illustration by Cliff Wright laid down to the upper board and titles in gilt to the upper board and spine. All edges gold. Yellow ribbon page marker. A very near fine copy, the binding square and firm, with a bump to the top corner of the front board, the cloth and gilt and fresh. The contents are clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps.

The third Harry Potter novel and the first to be issued in deluxe format simultaneously with the trade edition. The suggestion from early in its publication history was that the first printing of this deluxe edition was issued in an edition of 1000 copies. As with the trade edition, reprints were called for almost immediately after publication. Errington however does not offer a precise number due to confusion and conflicting information in the Bloomsbury archives. (Errington A7c).
