COOT CLUB

First edition, first printing. Original green cloth with titles in gilt to the spine and blindstamped to the upper board, in dustwrapper. Map endpapers. With the publisher's errata slip loosely laid in. Illustrated throughout in black and white by the author. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the corners and spine tips lightly bumped. The cloth and gilt is bright and fresh. The contents, with a contemporary ownership inscription on the verso of the front free endpaper and a very occasional faint spot internally, are otherwise clean and bright throughout. Complete with the very good rubbed, nicked and creased original dustwrapper that has a few short closed tears to the fold corners, a little toning of the spine, and a pink stain to the upper right of front panel. Not price-clipped (7s. 6d. on the front flap). An attractive example.

The fifth 'Swallows and Amazons' novel and the second to feature Dick and Dorothea Callum. The Callum children visit the Norfolk Broads and befriend the 'Coot Club', a group of children that protect local birds from egg collectors.
