Early edition. Original brown cloth with black titles to the spine and upper board, in dustwrapper. Illustrated with 48 colour plates by Margaret Tarrant. Illustrated endpapers. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth with a few light marks, the top corner of the upper board with a small bump, the extremities a little rubbed. The contents, with a contemporary gift inscription to the verso of the front free endpaper and some spotting to the closed text-block edge and occasionally throughout are otherwise clean. Complete with the original lightly rubbed dustwrapper that is faded to the spine. Not price-clipped (12/6 on the front flap).
