First edition, first printing. Shirley Hughes' retained copy, signed by her. Original tan cloth with red titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. Illustrated throughout in black and white by Shirley Hughes. A very good copy, the binding square and tight, the contents, with a little spotting to the text block edges, are otherwise clean and bright throughout. Complete with the lightly rubbed original dustwrapper which is very slightly toned to the spine and has a tiny closed tear to the lower rear panel. Not price-clipped (13s 6d to the front flap)
