Full green polished calf by Lewis and Harris. The boards double ruled in gilt, the spines with five raised bands and gilt decorated compartments, with titles in gilt on red morocco labels. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, 11 further full plates and 18 in text monochrome illustrations, with tissue guards. A fine copy. The binding square and firm, the contents with light spotting around the edges of the endpapers, are otherwise clean throughout and free from inscriptions or stamps.
A very attractively bound and illustrated edition of a Charles Dickens classic. The first Arthur Rackham illustrated edition was published by William Heinemann in 1915.
