Publisher's original maroon leather with gilt titles and borders to the upper board and spine, with black illustration of the titular protagonist Edmond Dantès to the upper board. Housed in the maroon card slipcase. Top edge gilt. Dark red satin bookmark. Illustrated with a signed etching mounted on dark grey Echt-Bütten Ingres paper, a black and white frontispiece, and 23 black and white illustrations throughout by Roman Pisarev. A fine copy, the binding square and firm, the gilt fresh. The contents, with a couple of very light spots to the bottom edge of the text block, are clean throughout, and without previous owners' inscriptions and stamps. Housed in the Very good, structurally sound, which is worn and scuffed to the bottom of the open edge.

Issued in an edition of 500 copies, from which this example is numbered 152, and signed by the illustrator Roman Pisarev in pencil on the etching facing the limitation page. A beautifully illustrated and luxuriously bound edition of the timeless adventure novel by Alexandre Dumas.
