First edition, first printing. Inscribed by the author. Publisher's original navy cloth with gilt titles to the spine and upper board and a colour plate inlaid on the the upper board. All edges purple. Illustrated in colour throughout. A fine copy, the binding square and tight, the contents clean and bright throughout. The private view invitation is loosely laid in.

Inscribed by the artist Craigie Aitchison on the front free endpaper "Terry & John. / Love Craigie. / Nov, 2004". A catalogue accompanying Aitchison's exhibition 'Pictures' held at the Timothy Taylor Gallery and Waddington Galleries from 18th November 2004 to 15th January 2005. Craigie Aitchison was a Scottish painter known for his colourful, naive style and for his many paintings of the crucifixion, a subject that he returned to again and again throughout his career.
