First edition, first printing. Signed by the author. Publisher's original black cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in the Grady McFerrin illustrated dustwrapper. With two publisher's bookmarks loosely laid in. A very near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth bright and fresh, with just a little rubbing to the extremities. The contents, with a bookplate to the front free endpaper, are otherwise clean and without previous owners' inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly rubbed dustwrapper that has a tiny closed tear to the front panel, and otherwise remains without fading or loss. Not price-clipped (£12.99 to the lower front flap).

Signed by Christopher Priest in black ink on the title page. A science fiction thriller novel, framed as a 'Gazetteer of Islands'. Forms part of Priest's 'Dream Archipelago' series, named for the fictional island group that first appeared in Priest's earlier novel 'The Affirmation' (1981) and that also serves as the setting here. Winner of the 2012 British SF Association Award and joint winner (with Joan Slonczewski for 'The Highest Frontier') of the 2012 John W. Campbell Memorial Award.
