RURAL SCENES; Or, A Peep into the Country. For Children.

Early edition. Publisher's original red roan over marbled boards, the spine ruled in gilt and with titles in gilt. Illustrated with an engraved title page and 29 copper-plate engravings, with three engravings per plate (some dated 1818). A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm with a small area of abrasion to the top left of the upper board and a little wear to the board edges and corners. The contents with a contemporary ownership inscription in ink to the front free endpaper and some minor offsetting from the plates to the facing text pages are otherwise in very good order and clean throughout. An excellent example.

A beautifully preserved copy of this charming juvenile work first published in 1805, wonderfully illustrated with a series of copper-plate engravings depicting a variety of scenes of rural life, work and leisure.
