EDINBURGH REVISITED

First edition. 4to. Publisher's original blue cloth with titles and decoration in black to the upper board and titles in gilt to the spine. Fore and lower edges untrimmed. 75 monochrome illustrations, including an etched frontispiece depicting Edinburgh from Salisbury Crags and 16 collotypes tipped-in on card with captioned tissue guards. Additional copy of the frontispiece etching loosely laid in, signed in pencil by Hanslip Fletcher. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with a little fading and bumping to the ends of the spine, an indentation to the top-left of the upper board and a minor splash mark to the lower board. The contents with tanning to the endpapers and foxing to the text-block edge are otherwise in good order, clean throughout and free from any previous owners' inscriptions or stamps. The signed etching has a little creasing to the top and left-hand margins but is otherwise very good.

An extensive and engaging tour of Edinburgh by the journalist and editor of the Manchester Guardian, James Bone (1872-1962). Wonderfully illustrated by Hanslip Fletcher, and including an additional signed fine impression of the etched frontispiece.
