First edition, first printing. Signed by the artist. Original tan cloth with a brown cloth spine lettered in gilt, with a gilt fish motif to the upper board. Illustrated throughout with lino-cuts in two colours by Rosemary Roberts. A very near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the spine slightly faded. The contents are clean throughout and without previous owners inscriptions or stamps.

Issued in a limited edition of 135 copies, this example is numbered 25 and signed in pencil by Rosemary Roberts, the illustrator, publisher and printer, on the limitation page. A short Christmas story by George Mackay Brown, written in October 1995, six months before his death. It is published here for the first time.
