PENNY FOOLISH: A Book of Tirades & Panegyrics.

Second impression (one month after the first). Inscribed by the author. Original red cloth lettered in gilt to the spine, lacking the dustwrapper. A good, sound copy, the binding square and firm, the contents clean throughout. Top edge coloured red, lower and fore-edges untrimmed. The cloth is rubbed to spine tips and edges, the spine severely faded, although the gilt lettering remains legible. Spotting to endpapers and half title.

There are two inscriptions in pencil to the front free endpaper, the first addressed "To the most precious Pearl / with homage / from / the unworthy author" is followed, with an arrow pointing to the first inscription, by the following note in the hand of the author, "This is not a / genuine inscription", signed and dated "Osbert Sitwell / May 5 1944". 'Penny Foolish' is a substantial collection of the author's journalism, including autobiography, travel, book reviews, and much else. (Fifoot OA25).
