DE BELLO GERMANICO: A Fragment of Trench History. Written in 1918 by the Author of Undertones of War.

First edition, first printing. Signed by the author. With an A.L.S. Publisher's original paper covered boards with titles printed on paper labels to the upper board and spine. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm with a little rubbing and some toning to the board edges and spine. The contents, mostly uncut and also with a little toning to the page edges are otherwise clean throughout.

Signed by Edmund Blunden in blue ink at the head of the front endpaper. Loosely inserted is an autograph note signed from the author dated June 12, 1931 to a Mr Hastings "I am sending with this a small book of which only a small number of copies were printed & hope it may attract a sum worth adding to your fund!". The publisher's notice designates this one of 250 copies on ordinary paper; there was also a signed edition of 25 copies on "special paper". Given the scarcity of this publication in commerce it would be reasonable to assume that the edition on ordinary paper was ultimately produced in a significantly smaller number than that advertised.
