Uncorrected proof copy of the first edition, first printing. Signed by the author. Publisher's original light blue card covers with titles in black to the spine and front cover, in the Ian Miller illustrated proof state dustwrapper. 14 x 25cm. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, with a little rubbing and creasing to the extremities and a couple of small marks to the spine. The contents, with a few light marks to the text block, are otherwise clean throughout and free from inscriptions or stamps. Complete with very good dustwrapper, which is rubbed and creased due to it being significantly oversized to the proof and is otherwise free from fading, loss or tears. Not price-clipped (approx £12.95 net to the front flap). Uncommon in this form.

Signed by William Gibson in black ink above his printed name on the title page. The true first edition of Gibson and Bruce Sterling's collaborative alternative history novel, published in the UK in September 1990 and preceding the Bantam Spectra first US edition by seven months. Widely regarded as having helped establish the genre conventions of steampunk. Nominated for the 1990 British Science Fiction Award in 1990, the Nebula Award for Best Novel in 1991, and both the John W. Campbell Memorial Award and the Prix Aurora Award in 1992.
