Historical paintings and photographs are contrasted with modern photographs of the same views to clearly demonstrate where buildings and spaces have been demolished, built or converted. Many of the paintings and sketches featured in the book were reproduced from originals in public and private collections, including York Art Gallery and The Merchant Adventurers Company. 1,500 copies were printed.
