A fine copy, the binding square and tight, the contents clean throughout and without previous owner's marks. Complete with the very slightly toned dustwrapper that remains without loss or tears. Inscribed by the author in blue ink on the front endpaper "Para Stig, con un / fuerte abrazo da su amigo / Carlos / MADRID, junio 69 / ˇ Stig, friendship!". The poet and political activist's first collection of poetry to be published in Spain. From a Republican family, his father, an officer in the Assault Guard, was shot during the civil war. Himself imprisoned multiple times for his opposition to Francoism, Alvarez worked together with the Spanish essayist, poet and narrator Luciano González Egido at the Cinema Universitario magazine, until it was banned in 1963. His verses move between experimental poetry and poetry of social commitment and up until the present volume were translated and published in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Italy, as publication was prohibited in his homeland.
